Makaylaa luau

for the gumpaste flowers ..
t
o make a hibiscous flower to match the luau theme.
i used a rose cutter or pansy cutter from kit two in the old wilton course two kit
i made my gumpaste a day before
wilton gumtex one tablespoon
mix withfour cups powdered sugar
heat four tablespoons of water in a microwave with one tablespoon of cornsyrup
pour warm water sugar mixture.into mixer bowl with paddle attachment.mix gradually adding liquid until dough forma. scraping down sugar on sides. seal dough.in crisco coated bag until cures, and becomes hard. overnight is best. knead a peice of dough will be crumbly keep pulling apart and mashih together.intil softer, white, and pops when.pulled apart.

i place my cutter under rolled gumpasterolled out  1/8 inch thick
place cut flowers under plastic or a practice board do not let dry out.
place flower.on thin sponge to thin edges with ball tool coming halfway on and off the sponge it may ruffle.
i used a lily flower leaf to press into eachpetal for texture of veining. it makes a nice impression. then i dust yellow dust with a dry brush in the center.brudhing out to middle of petals. brush silver shimmer dust.on edges of each petal
poke a toothpick into he center to make a hole. then it wont break after dry. bring flower to large sponge and press into each petal with ball tool and center cupping the petals this makes the edges ruffle more.
set flower.in egg.carton or flower former.cup to dry.overnight is best.
for the centers i make a small amount of gumpaste into a teardrop shape let dry alittle making many. wet a tip of a toothpick with gumglue and press.into the large end of the center. cut.the plastic flower.centers only.leaving ,,,1/4 inch of stamen wet with glue to press into top. let dry. the.next day paint on glue and carefully pull toothpick through flower center the let dry on egv carton tops. i poked holes ahead of time.on the tops of egg carton with my exactop to dry
